October 27th was World Occupational Therapy Day, and it gave me a moment to pause and reflect on my journey as an occupational therapist.

When I first started college, I had never even heard of occupational therapy. But through a career assessment, I discovered this incredible field that views people through such a unique, holistic lens. What drew me in—and continues to inspire me—is that occupational therapy combines science and compassion. It’s evidence-based, yes, but it also embraces the whole person—their physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being.

I became an OT because I wanted to help people, and this profession has allowed me to do that in the most meaningful ways. Every day, I get to help others build fuller, more independent lives by looking at every aspect of what makes them who they are.

My life as an occupational therapist has been—and continues to be—deeply fulfilling. I’m so grateful to be part of this amazing profession, and I look forward to sharing more about it with you!
